Preparing Students for College Writing

In Development

One of the joys of teaching writing is watching students discover that they are capable of more than they imagined. My hope is that The Write Road becomes the foundation for a growing collection of resources that help students build both confidence and skill as writers.

Projects currently in development include:

  • Literature Companion Guides that integrate writing instruction with classic works of literature.

  • Parent and Teacher Resources to make teaching writing more approachable and less overwhelming.

  • Student Reference Tools for grammar, MLA formatting, revision, and research.

  • Additional writing lessons and printable resources designed to support students at every stage of the writing process.

As these resources become available, they will be announced here and through my email newsletter.

The Write Road

Your Journey to College Writing

Developed from more than a decade of teaching freshman composition, The Write Road was written to help students build the foundation, confidence, and thinking skills they need before college.

After reading and grading hundreds of college essays, Michelle Thooft noticed the same patterns year after year. Many bright, motivated students found college writing overwhelming—not because they lacked ability, but because they were missing key foundations. The Write Road was created to build those foundations before students ever step into a college classroom.

Beginning with strong sentences and progressing through paragraphs, essays, and a college-ready research paper, The Write Road offers a clear, step-by-step path to confident academic writing.

Launching August 2026

Be among the first homeschooling families to begin the journey. To celebrate the launch, The Write Road is available at introductory pricing through December 31, 2026.

As your family works through the curriculum, I'd love to hear about your experience. Whether you have questions, observations, or simply want to share how your student is progressing, I'd be grateful to hear from you. Your feedback will help inform future editions as The Write Road continues to grow.
